Description

Ezio Manzini is considered one of the most influential thinkers in contemporary design. For the past three decades, he has focused his career on sustainable design and social innovation. He founded DESIS, a network of design schools focused on social innovation and sustainability. He is currently its president and an honorary professor at the Politecnico di Milano. He has taught at several global institutions and has published several works, “Politics of the Everyday” (2019), “Livable Proximity” (2021), and “Plug-ins: Design City Making in Barcelona” published in 2023.
In “Livable Proximity, Ideas for the city that cares” Ezio Manzini will analyze the scenario of proximity in the city, showing how it has emerged from the social innovations of the last 20 years, and how, in some cities, it has become a framework for action. The expression “15-minute city” is sometimes used, with the creation of new proximity systems capable of meeting many, if not all, of the daily needs of citizens.
